2017 Sigerson Cup draw revealed

The draw for the 2017 Independent.ie Sigerson Cup has been revealed.

There are three preliminary clashes, and the winners of these matches will progress to the first round.

UCD, who ended a 20 year wait for Sigerson glory this year, will play either GMIT or IT Sligo in the first round. UCD beat DCU by 0-10 to 2-02 in Jordanstown.

Westmeath’s John Heslin put in a man of the match display for UCD, scoring six points with some excellent long-range shooting.

The reigning champions will also have Dublin star Jack McCaffrey back in the side after his travels, and he’s expected to captain the side.

DCU face a journey to Queen’s University in the first round.

NUIG have drawn Trinity College in the preliminary round.
