GAA | Mike Solan no longer in contention to be next Mayo manager

Mike Solan, who brought All-Ireland U-21 success to Mayo in 2016 and the Mayo U-20 team this year, has stepped away from the race to succeed Stephen Rochford as the next Mayo manager.

The announcement came this afternoon on the official Mayo website, not giving a particular reason for his withdrawal, the statement advised that Solan is withdrawing his name from the process and went on to state that the county will next meet with James Horan to discuss his plans for 2019.

The statement also incorporated a brief statement from Solan himself, advising: “Today, I have informed the Mayo County Board that I am withdrawing my name from the nomination process for the Mayo Senior Football Team Manager. I would like to thank everyone who helped me in this process and I would like to wish the Mayo Senior team every success in 2019 and beyond.”
