UFC | Khabib forces McGregor to tap out in the fourth

Khabib Nurmagomedov has beaten Conor McGregor at UFC229.

The Russian fighter forced ‘The Notorious’ to tap out from a rear naked choke in the fourth round, and horrible scenes unfolded after the final bell.

Khabib inexplicably jumped into the crowd to attack McGregor’s teammate Dillon Danis, and a melee broke out outside the octagon.

Several members of the crowd also jumped into the octagon and attacked McGregor.

The police and security had to intervene, and Dana White had to postpone the post-fight interviews and ceremony following the disgraceful scenes. White also told Nurmagomedov he would not be handing him his lightweight title.

McGregor was ushered out of the T-Mobile Arena, and Khabib had drinks launched at him by Irish fans as he was escorted from the arena.

White has since confirmed that three of Khabib’s entourage have been arrested following the violence.

Khabib has now extended his unbeaten record to 27 fights, and was the deserved winner inside the octagon.

The 30-year-old’s grappling skills were on display from the outset, and had McGregor on the ground for most of the first round.

The Russian fighter landed a huge right hand early in the second round which sent McGregor to the floor, but the Dubliner recovered quickly to catch Khabib with his knee.

Khabib then took McGregor to the ground again, and the lightweight champion rained shots down on his Irish opponent, who had to dig deep to make it to the bell.

‘The Notorious’ enjoyed more success early in the third as the pair traded shots in the middle of the octagon, but failed to land any shots which really troubled Nurmagomedov.

Khabib completed another takedown in the fourth, and after transitioning to a back mount, locked in a choke.

McGregor tapped out, and the aforementioned chaos ensued.

A difficult night for the Irish fighter, both during and after the fight.
