Katie Taylor has confirmed that she will feature on the David Haye v Tony Bellew undercard in London on March 4th.
The Bray boxer was originally meant to feature on Gennady Golovkin’s undercard at Madison Square Garden on March 18th, but was removed from the card due to an argument between promoters that she was appearing at the same venue just a day after Michael Conlan’s professional debut.
The much anticipated grudge match between Haye and Bellew will attract considerable media coverage, and Taylor is happy to be fighting “on a massive stage”.
“It’s great to be on another big card in front of a huge crowd at an arena like The O2,” Taylor said.
“I think people are really excited about the Haye-Bellew fight and the rivalry between those guys and as a boxer these are the kind of nights you want to be a part of. It’s a massive stage for me and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I’ve been here in the US for the last few weeks in training camp for the fight and working hard. It’s the start of a very big year for me and I know there are big plans but I need to keep winning and keep performing so I’m not looking any further beyond March 4.”
The Irish fighter has won both of her previous professional bouts comfortably, but her opponent for March’s fight has yet to be announced.
The Haye v Bellew fight features an impressive undercard, with Ohara Davies v Derry Matthews, and former world champion Paul Malignaggi against Sam Eggington.
