✍️ Popular wing-back Enda Stevens has signed a new long-term contract to extend his stay at Bramall Lane until 2023. The Republic of Ireland international has been in excellent form this season, one of United’s most consistent performers in the Premier League to date.— Sheffield United (@SheffieldUnited) March 12, 2020 "I'm obviously delighted," the former Aston Villa defender told the club website. "It's something I've wanted do get done for a while now, so I'm just pleased it's finally over the line. As a group we've built on the success of last season, but we don't want to stand still. We want to continue to do well and finish as high in the table as possible. "The manager is building something special here. He's keeping the core group together and now adding to it to make us even stronger and everyone is happy to be involved in the journey." Chris Wilder, a contender for manager of the season, described Ireland international Stevens as one of the league's best players in his position. "Enda has become one of the top players in the division, in his position, in our opinion, and he deserves rewarding with a new contract, that's what we're trying to do at the moment. "His performances have been outstanding for both club and country and he is an important and integral part of our team in and out of possession." The Blades are currently seventh in the Premier League, but will rise to fifth if they win their game in hand. Wilder's men are currently behind Wolves on goal difference, and two points behind Manchester United, having played a game fewer than both of their rivals for European qualification. Stevens' club and international teammate John Egan, who has won plaudits for his performances at the heart of Sheffield's defence, has also confirmed that he is in early talks with the club over a new contract.
