Ireland have beaten Argentina 22-19 in the Autumn Nation Series in Dublin.
Andy Farrell's side scored three tries in the first half but failed to register a point in a nervy second-half display as they narrowly held out against a spirited Los Pumas fightback.
Ireland suffered an early scare when Matias Moroni crossed the whitewash for an Argentinian try in the third minute. However, the TMO intervened to disallow the try and Moroni was shown a yellow card for a high tackle on Jack Crowley in the buildup.
Crowley opened the scoring with a try less than a minute later after intense Irish pressure from the resulting line-out. The Irish out-half then added a conversion to give Ireland an early 7-0 lead at the Aviva Stadium.
Mack Hansen added Ireland's second try after good work from Jamison Gibson-Park and Tadhg Beirne, with Crowley missing his conversion on this occasion.
Two penalties in six minutes from Tomas Albornoz kept Felipe Contepomi’s in the game, with Ireland's discipline in defence a cause for concern once again.
Finlay Bealham was shown a yellow card for a foul on Joel Sclavi in the 16th minute. At the other end, Crowley extended the hosts' lead with a clever drop-goal to make it 15-6.
Albornoz replied with this third penalty of the half in the 26th minute, but Ireland recorded their third try just after the half-hour mark.
Joe McCarthy drove over the line from close range, and Crowley duly added a conversion to make it 22-9 heading into the interval.
It proved to be Ireland's last score of the match, with Los Pumas seizing the initiative in the second half.
Juan Mallia scored a wonderful try in the 45th minute, dancing through the Irish defence with power and pace.
Albornoz converted to draw Argentina to within six points of Ireland, and added his fourth penalty a few minutes later after McCarthy was shown a yellow card for staying offside.
Albornoz went close with a drop-goal in the 56th minute as Argentina piled on the pressure, but the Irish defence held firm.
Sam Prendergast and Thomas Clarkson came off the bench to make their heavily-anticipated international debuts, and there was also a special cameo from Cian Healy. The Irish veteran's latest cap was his 133rd for his country, equalling Brian O'Driscoll's record.
Francisco Kodela was sent to the sin-bin in the 76th minute, shouldering Irish captain Caelan Doris in the head and receiving the fourth yellow card of the game.
It was a nervy finish in Dublin, but Farrell's charges just about held on to their hard-fought three-point lead in the capital, an Argentinian knock-on confirming victory for the men in green.
The result returns Ireland to winning ways after last week's disappointing home defeat to the All Blacks, and also means that Argentina remain winless in Dublin.
